I interviewed for a Sr SDM Java/AWS position in NYC. It was the worst interview experience I have ever had by far. The recruiter’s communication was very poor; they sent me zero details about what to expect in the interview and sent me the invite for the first 2 interviews the evening before they occurred. I tried emailing and calling multiple times to get details beforehand.
The first interview was a coding round which I passed. The second round was with a Sr Engineerint Manager who showed up late, because they hadn’t checked their calendar. I could see them looking up questions on a monitor during the interview. They asked about 20 hyper specific questions about Java like what is the difference between runAsync and supplyAsync for complete-able futures. Questions that I could have easily googled and answered with 5 minutes of prep given the opportunity to prepare. Not one question was about my experience as a manager or my ability to problem solve. I laughed out loud during the interview because it was so poorly conducted. I learned that Chase does not have any type of engineering interview standard, and do not blame the interviewer because of that.
