3 rounds of interview plus a homework. First round on-site, no telephone interview. Office is cool. Lasted around 1hour or so, basic working experience resume related questions. Second round via video chat, lasted 40min or so, basic Linux questions. Third round with the same guy as the first round, lasted 2 hours, basically a lot of definition related things, for example, what is devops, etc, nothing that can show if you are good or not. Homework: gradual deploy of a hello word app in cloud. No acutal test account provided. No other restrictions. Later I knew what they had in mind was container, probably terraform+ecs/k8s, while in this simple case container doesn't make any sense at all, especially they mentioned cost efficient. Docker compose is easier and cheaper to implement but that definitely isn't the way you want it in production. I gave my analization why I didn't go for certain things and why I chose my things, but sadly it seemed they didn't care. All they care is if you used the thing they had in mind. I was refused almost 2 months after the first interview (yeah the process is long) when I already accepted offers from others. Regarding the 3 round interviews, the questions are either working exp or definitions; nothing that can show if you are clever/quick learner or anaything. No programming challenge, no white board coding what so ever. Probably they only want to hire a guy who uses their stack already, not a really good guy.
