I applied for the Bus Operators position with KCATA back in October or November, and it seemed that the bus started rolling this January with my background and credit check coming back. I got a copy of the report.
Interview day.
You will take a computerized behavioral survey. This will take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. Next you will get a brief site orientation of the operation setup and the amenities. And finally, the interview. You will get a brief introduction of the organization, the structure, and benefits from one of the Senior Operator Supervisors. They will discuss pros and cons of the jobs, hours of operation, the operators training program, permit requirements. And then you will get into more behavioral questions and answer. I would suggest that you take a look at a YouTube video of KCATA to see what the worst thing that could happen on a bad day. But you must keep in mind everyday is not like this and the local PD and KCATA won't put you in harms way, and you aren't superman/woman. Follow company protocol. Not sure if they have safe codes or protocol for problem areas. One company had a protocol where if you didn't feel safe you could radio a safe word and location and observers and intervention would observe and intervene as needed.
