Submitted my application through LinkedIn, and was contacted by their HR rep for initial phone screening. That was straightforward, but a little robotic, she was just asking pre-determined questions and transcribing answers. Was contacted later that week for an in-person interview with their Director of Client Relations (?) I believe his title was.

Very relaxed and easy going. There wasn't a lot of pressure and it felt as if the people that interviewed were all relatively similar in skillsets. The questions were all geared towards the specific position being applied for.

It was an average interview and I felt very disappointed afterward. I applied via LinkedIn and got a message shortly after to set up an interview. She had said that she was impressed with my resume. The questions weren’t difficult; however, the lady interviewing me was. It was the same person who replied on LinkedIn. She was not friendly or approachable. It was awkward as it was obvious I was a number. It was also obvious she was not prepared and had, once I mentioned that I had little to no experience (recent grad); decided that I was no longer a candidate. She did not ask about me or my career goals. She did not look at my portfolio, resume, or experience, which was odd as she mentioned it before. She asked what I did in my portfolio, which was odd (I did literally everything) or whether I was currently working (my CV and resume clearly state I am not). To me, this speaks very negatively of the company. I thought I did terribly (a rarity for me in interviews) but it took a few friends of mine listening in on the call to confirm that it was not me but the woman interviewing me who did. I asked what they look for in designers and she fumbled for an answer before saying a minimum of 3 years retail and past experience were the most important. I knew I wouldn’t get an offer and was okay with that. I do not wish to be a part of a company that doesn’t invest in people who are ambitious and hungry to change the world of design. I also do not want to be a part of a company that doesn’t invest time in reviewing my resume or portfolio (especially as it’s their job). I prefer to be interviewed by someone with knowledge of the role, too. The woman interviewing me did not.
