I was looking for a part time job that would not interfere with my primary role as wife and mother. I very frequently shop at Kohl's and decided to search online for job openings. Rather than send in an online application I went to the two Kohl's in my area and filled out job applications, making sure to meet and greet a few "higher up" people. I was called a few days later by the store manager and she asked me a few questions, asked about my availability (important that I was available virtually any night) and informed me it was a minimum wage job and I'd work between 10 or 15 hours a week. I was invited to attend a "group interview." About 7 or 8 of us met with the manager and her assistant manager for an hour or so. We were told not to be shy, that we needed to jump in and join the conversation because that was how they could tell if we would be a good fit. There were specific questions asked and we could jump in and answer. Most of the questions had to do with honesty. Evidentally there is a huge problem with employee theft and they were trying to discern who would be least likely to attempt to steal from Kohl's. They also asked what we would do in certain situations and asked if we liked to do one thing at a time or do many things at once. It didn't seem important which way we answered. I think the very next day I got a call from the manager asking if I'd like to join their team and I agreed. Over the next two weeks I was in training with one other person from the interview group. We primarily watched videos and took very easy tests. When I started working in Ad Set I was put with someone who'd been doing it for some time and she taught me the details. It has been a very positive experience working at Kohl's and I really enjoy the people I work with and the hours I work. I also receive a small discount on merchandise.
