I interviewed via Zoom which was awkward because the committee was sitting in one room so they appeared on one screen, making it difficult to read their emotions. I mentioned my desire to move up within an institution by way of the question: Will there be any possibility for advancement? One person interpreted this question as: this role is not senior enough for me and then went on to further project that interpretation - very awkward experience and unprofessional approach. I ended up being a finalist for the role (surprisingly) and they contacted five of my references but was not offered employment. I received an AUTOMATED EMAIL to thank me for my time. Because of the unprofessionalism and inability to treat me like a human, I will not be applying to this institution in the future.
