You apply thru a temp agency and take assessment testing. Then you get called in for an interview with Laura, the donor of the archive, making the position seem urgent by asking if you can come in the day of or the day after your assessment testing. Then, the in person interview process is beyond confusing - you walk in and get slightly acknowledged by her and are greeted warmly by her staff, but she will make some comment about a rare historical fact that you don't recognize and she will seem baffled by you not knowing, immediately establishing her intelligence over yours. Then you get asked one question like 'tell me about yourself' and then half way thru your answer, Laura will interrupt and ask if you are transcribing. TRANSCRIBING? My own interview?? Yes she says. You are required to be fully present in the interview and also transcribe the entire process. It is a very good example of how you are expected to fulfill Laura's ridiculous expectations, but most of all she wants you to do what she asks no questions. She has 'hired' people on the spot - this consists of her not telling you that you are hired, but just asking one of her staff to send you the training documents. She has 'hired' people and expected them to be ready to work an entire day that day.
