Employer contacts the candidate to ask salary - current, expected, and max they can offer for the title. for this, there was no room for negotiation at all. You feel absolutely like talking to a robot. You are brought in to interview with the group, usually takes a half day to a full day meeting with multiple people, many times you feel like you are the interviewer, not interviewee. Depending on their impression/favoritism, they may change offer/title to a different one - if lucky and favored (mainly by the senior), you will get more than what you deserve - happens quite often.

The interview began with on the phone with one person. About a week later and in-person interview was scheduled with several people . The interview was during covid but socially distanced.

The interview was a joke and they did not even care for the people who spent several hours and several days in flight and travel from west coast. They were so busy in collecting and finishing up their work on that day. None cared about the interview. They did not have courtesy to offer me a water or some lunch, I had to go on my own between interviews. I was successfully done the interview and i was asked to send reference letters and that too completed in two days and i
did not hear anything for a week or two or any offer, I kept calling Leidos people asking what was going on. No one replied me either. Finally I had to call the "managing guy" who interviewed me few times. He finally replied me.
