After an initial phone interview I was asked by the office manager to have an interview with the Director of Global Sales and Marketing. I agreed to the interview, and traveled 99 miles (one way, for a total of 198 miles round trip), in order to have this interview.
I went through the intial screening questions with the o.m., and she told me that she would find out when he would come down to interview with me. After several minutes she came back downstairs, and told me that he was too busy to speak with me, because he was talking with the owner; however, he had all my information and would contact me if he wanted to move on with the presentation part of the interview. I was absolutely shocked when I heard this! I mentioned to her that I had just traveled over 21/2 hours (99 miles) to the interview and he could not see me?! I then asked if this was something that he did a lot, and she told me that unfortunately it happened on other occassions as well. She said that it embarrassed her because she was the one who had to deliver the information. I felt badly for her, but told her that I would need her to withdraw my application, because I did not feel comfortable not knowing if he would pull this stunt again at the next round of interviews. I wished her luck and left the premises.
