      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 1 dia. Fui entrevistado pela Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes (Berkeley, CA) em mai. de 2014

      Entrevista

The interview included an info session and testing with a group of fellow applicants on the same day. We were given info on the times and locations of the summer position. We proceeded to take a spelling test, which included the words: receive, charlatan, commission and stationery. They gave us made-up words that we were supposed to spell phonetically. Then we took a reading comprehension tests where we were tested on our ability to infer and interpret. The test seemed really subjective. This part was the hardest. They gave us 30 minutes to complete it. Then they demonstrated some of their learning processes. We practiced with fellow applicants. During this time, applicants were excused for one-on-one interviews. The one-on-one was quite simple, about six questions. How would you introduce yourself to a student? What would you do if you saw a broken vase or rotting fruit in the front lobby? What would you do if you saw a strange person? Everything took about three hours. I was pretty tired after taking the tests and endlessly practicing the learning processes. I just wanted it all to be over as I approached the one-on-one interview.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 4 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes (Atlanta, GA).

      Entrevista

The building was hard to locate. You had to enter this side road to a business sector, drive pass a parking garage, and the main building to the the hidden/secret village where it was located on the right. My new GPS would not bring the place up accurately. The building itself is fancy. The RR were marvelous. The actual business is located inside on the right. It was very toasty inside. The table I was sitting at, for the introduction, was dirty with chocolate smeared on it. The staff consisted of almost entirely young and middle-aged women. They had water bottles and a cinnamon pastry for your refreshment. The process consists of the following: a visual presentation, facilitator's modeling/individual-paired practice sessions, two tests, and a solo interview. The program started at 9:15 b/c at least one person was running late. The person who did show up missed most of the introductory slideshow. You are required to fill out about three forms as time allows. You will need to bring all your background/job/school/reference information with you. This company, I noticed, advocates the use of the following: Seeing Stars, Talkies. Testing: During the entire critical thinking skills test, there were kids walking around talking/laughing loudly, adults talking, and even some disturbances in my immediate vicinity. The spelling test was 20 words in length, two of the words were charlatan and camouflage. They also said they would not divulge your scores to you. Role-play/Practice: the training was short and fast-paced followed with extremely awkward practice - considering you only got to see the "teaching" modeled one time by professionals. We only practiced in pairs. Half the time, the facilitators didn't' seem to pay attention. Interview: I was only asked six questions. Why do you want to work here? What are three of your strengths and weaknesses? How would you introduce yourself to a student? I was told once again that every clinician makes $12.75 an hour with no exceptions. If you are lucky, you can work from 8 am to 6 pm. Monday through Friday. But, it was made clear that they could make no promises and that the client's parents only scheduled/payed from week to week. Basically, you have a changing schedule every week. At the very least and most likely, you would work 1 shift (either 8-12 or 1-5) for five days in a row totaling 20 hours. That means you would make $51/day or $255/week, minus taxes. The best you could ever hope for would be a full day (which usually only happens in the summer I was told), whereby you would make $102/day minus taxes. This would be $510/week which would be super - in theory - if you could be so lucky - every week! You can also make that as a substitute in the APS. Their only other GA location is in John's Creek. The entire process was over by 11:20 - less than 2 1/2 hours.
