Candidatei-me online. Fui entrevistado pela Lucid Motors (Newark, CA) em abr. de 2021
Entrevista
I applied on LinkedIn. Received a call from the recruiter and we had a chat about the job requirement and where do I fit in. Pretty good conversation.
Scheduled a technical phone screen with a Senior Engineer, most of the interview was around knowing what do I know and what technologies Lucid works with, pretty interesting. Towards the last 15 minutes we solved an easy coding question.
Cleared the technical phone screen and was scheduled for a virtual onsite, this is where the issues started happening. The recruiter at this stage started behaving very weird. She was not willing to have a phone conversation with me regarding the onsite interview process and how many interviews there were gonna be. On asking several times, she kept on answering there will be 3-4 interviews talking technical. To top it off, eventually she asked me to talk to the scheduling coordinator, about the interview process. I hesitantly scheduled the onsite interview and was scheduled for 5 technical interviews over 2 days.
The onsite experience was horrible, the interviewers kept on going deeper and deeper into concepts I was not familiar with. Android Auto and AOSP is not something I have done, still they kept on grilling me over these topics and expressing dismay that I am not proficient in their technology.
Got an offer 2 days later. Now, the recruiter would not stop praising how good the company is and what BS benefits they offer. Then she threw the curve ball - they wanted me join as a Junior Developer with a drastically reduced salary then what I asked. Clearly they were not gonna pay me the money up front so they wasted all this time.
My biggest mistake, disclosing my salary expectations to the recruiter.

First round - HR call. I recently applied for this role looking at how EV market is growing. Got shortlisted and had this call. Overall went well but then I found out they wanted folks to come in 5 days a week (strictly onsite) but I agreed.

This role was within their infotainment team and they wanted someone to work on Android Auto. I have been an Android guy for 8+ years but Auto is a new thing for me. So she started lowballing me when I asked for comp. Overall a bad experience coz you want someone to relocate from WA to CA, lowballing in salary and also rigid as far as onsite is concerned.
Hard to see someone with decent skills to sign up for this company. Its a good option if you are entry level, but won't recommend otherwise.
