As far as the recruiting process goes, Lutron is VERY good about maintaining contact, keeping you updated, and taking care of the candidate (much better than 90% of the companies I've interviewed at). It was a lengthy process but well worth it. Usually, it's a couple of phone interviews followed by an on-site full day interview where you'll talk to 7-8 people from the department your position will be in. The process can be much longer and you'll speak with people who are pretty high up the chain of command. If they ever forget to get back to you, give the recruiter a call. They won't mind and will appreciate the fact that you took the time to follow up. The phone interviews end with quick little brainteasers to see how you think; they're moderately difficult questions but the interviewer will walk you through it towards the solution if you seem to be struggling. It's mostly to see how you think and your approach to the problem. The on-site interview involves a quite intense situational roleplay where you're asked to solve a problem that comes up on-the-job. The trick is to keep your calm and think logically through it, don't freak out and break down. This is actually a very clever way of interviewing people because you get to see what kinds of stuff you're expected to do on the job, and they get to see if you're actually capable of handling the job responsibilities. Lutron takes its hiring very seriously and they hire PEOPLE, not DEGREES. So make a good impression as a person and not some glorified engineer with a diploma. Everyone you talk to is very smart and have a strong passion for the company and its products. Of the 40+ companies I interviewed at, this was easily the best one in terms of recruiting, hiring process, following up, keeping the candidate updated, answering any questions or difficulties, and making an offer.
