Submitted resume via linkedin and received a email from CEO after 1?day, inviting me to schedule time for 1 hr video interview, Within a few days. No screening with a recruiter, as CEO was doing the recruiting for this role all himself.
No behavioral or wrote questions, instead basically a conversation 50 % about the company, 30% about CEO’s background, and 20% my experience. Not trying to bag on the him, but I had to work hard to fit in any info on my qualifications for the role, background, and questions, as he really liked to talk (maybe a tactic on his part or lack of awareness).
Was able to fit in question on what next steps were and was told 60 ppl applied, 15 were being interviewed, would narrow down to 10, then 5 would be invited for in person interviews.
Asked if I would make the cut to the 10 and was told yes and that I would hear back in 3 business days if I would make the cut to final 5. (I didn’t feel I had an opportunity to actually share any depth of my fit for the role, so sent thank you and tried to set up a short follow-up via email, to no response).
Then, I didn’t receive a response 3 business days later, or 4, or 5, or 6. So, I reached out again through 2 different channels and finally got a response.
(To me Seems like either he knew I wasn’t going to make the cut before I was interviewed, or right when he saw me on video chat, Or just forgot about me because 15 interviewees is too many for 1 guy to manage who is used to CEO work, and the last 3 people he talked to were more likely to make the cut then someone in the middle who could barely get a word in edgewise.)
