It's best if you've had some previous work experience in the cosmetics field. I was first taken back to the Human Resources Office to answer some of the basic interview questions you hear basically anywhere. Then once the manager was comfortable with me she then took me out on the floor to meet some of the girls who already worked the counters and let me get familiarized with the store, which I thought was a good sign. Then, I was told that if I was to be approved for the position, I would have to go through another interview that is called "talent plus." This is basically the test that has taken an actual HR's position. I think it has no purpose what so ever but to tell managers that you're not good enough to move up. That was my only problem with the hiring process here. nobody told me about how valuable the talent plus test was going to be until it was too late.

I worked at Macy's in the late 2010s. The cosmetics manager asked me several questions. A few questions were difficult, like asking about what I would do if I saw a coworker stealing, but most were straightforward. She was also very respectful and supportive since I was unsure how to answer a few of the questions. They know that you need time to learn. Overall, it was a great experience for a beginner applicant.
