      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por meio de uma agência de recrutamento. O processo levou 2 dias. Fui entrevistado pela Mad Engine (San Diego, CA) em fev. de 2018

      Entrevista

I took some time before writing this review because I was afraid I was going to sound too harsh even though my instinct was to write one right away. This review isn't "fresh" after my interview, but I still get upset thinking about it. I was extremely hesitant coming into the interview because I had done my research on this company prior to coming, and there were a ton of negative reviews everywhere I looked. I was in a situation where I'm not desperate for just ANY job, and one of the biggest factors of my accepting a job is the quality of the work environment. The only reason why I showed up to this interview was because my recruiter encouraged me to in order to give it a chance and check out the environment myself rather than going based off of reviews, but once I got there I understood immediately why all the negative reviews are there. It was a waste of my time. I have never been a part of an interview process where I've seen and experienced SO much unprofessionalism. Starting from when I was in the waiting area, the receptionist made it clear she wasn't expecting me and made a big fuss on the phone to other employees about not knowing about my interview, not having conference room space, and in general just complained a lot about other work she was doing. All of this happened in the main office area where there was an interviewee that can overhear her (nice first impression!) The longer I spent listening to her on the phone, the more I wanted to just walk out because this kind of environment wasn't something I could tolerate. She wasn't particularly friendly and didn't give me any direction or update me (such as "I'm contacting __ it will be about __ minutes"). There's a HUGE difference between casual and unprofessional, and my first impression was that this was straight up unprofessional. Eventually I was put in a conference room, and before the receptionist left she kind of threw the visitors badge on the table at me (to give her some credit, she did try to take back her actions and moved it closer to me). I waited for a while before my two interviewers showed up. It took literally only about 5 minutes. They didn't introduce themselves in a typical professional manner (name & title) so I had basically no idea who they were minus their names, and it seemed like THEY were completely unprepared for the interview. If I knew any better, it could have been any two employees in the company who were told to interview me. I was made to feel very uncomfortable as my primary interviewer was slowly eyeing me the whole time and sort of giving me the "look over" as she was looking at my resume, probably because my technical skills were already there. The only question she seemed to settle on was "tell me about yourself" which isn't really a question. Also, she asked it in a way where she seemed like she didn't even care about the answer. I probably could have talked about wanting to be a sheep farmer or messenger pigeon breeder and the reason why I wanted a data entry job was to practice keeping tabs on how many sheeps or pigeons I have and it probably wouldn't have made a difference. I'm not sure if she even wanted to be there. About 2-3 sentences in (as I was talking), the receptionist opens the door without knocking--knowing full well there's an interview going on-- and puts down a roll of receipt paper in front of the primary interviewer and says something to the effect of "here, was this what you were asking for?" Having been in receptionist positions myself, I was baffled at how someone would interrupt an interview for such a trivial matter, also without knocking first. Needless to say, at this point I was already done with this company and the way they kept presenting themselves to me. We talked briefly about it being a permanent position but I had already decided this is not the company for me, she didn't want to waste my time, I didn't want to waste hers, so we upped and left. All in all, seems like an unprofessional environment with a lack of communication as all the other reviews have mentioned. Left such a negative impression on me that I thought it would benefit others to be aware of what they're getting themselves into.
