Almost all of the interview process was done through a third party staffing agency that contacted me directly representing Mail Shark. Recruiter scheduled a call and chatted with me for 30 mins, asking about my background in design and what the job entails. After the phone call, I gave the recruiter my resume to send to Mail Shark. After reviewing my resume, they wanted me to come into the office to do a "design test", where I would be screen sharing to Mail Shark Designers, while designing a mailer for free. After doing the "design test" I now know that any Graphic Designer who has respect for their own work experience and valuable time, should NOT do a design test. My extensive portfolio that I showed them was adequate enough to show my work in design, and this test was a big waste of time. Also, after traveling 30 minutes to get there, I was met with an unwelcome environment and a Senior Designer who immediately gave me the test and left no room for introductions and questions. I was then told after the test that I'll "hear from the recruiter". The recruiter called and asked how the "design test" went, then gave me the opportunity to ask any questions about the position. I asked about the salary range, as there was not one in the job description, and I got the indication that it was going to be way less then I imagined (I could work at a fast food place for more money). I had some other questions about certain "gray areas" in the job description, and was told that the recruiter would have to contact Mail Shark for that information. To make a long story short, after taking time to travel for a "design test" and asking important questions about the job, I got ghosted. Graphic Designers beware, this interview process is not worth your time.
