Fui entrevistado pela Makpar (McLean, VA) em mar. de 2025
Entrevista
Screening call with recruiter followed by a technical phone interview and in person 4 hours technical interview where I was asked to build a .net core mvc application with code first approach that has some functionality according to their requirements. Completed that in less than 2 hours, the interviewer proceeded to point at random code ask what happens if that got removed or changed. Felt more like childish game rather than a technical conversation/interview for a Sr Developer role with lots of years of experience. After 4 hours of total in person interview, left their office after 7pm, they appeared to be very satisfied with the small application I built, asked me to email the code base to them and then completely ghosted me. Didn’t even have the courtesy of giving me a feedback. When I called the recruiter, he said they simply wouldn’t give him any feedback even after he asked and was ashamed of the hiring manager’s actions and told me he was sorry.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela Makpar em fev. de 2025
Entrevista
I applied to Makpar in December 2024 but didn’t hear back for over two months. In February 2025, I finally received an email to schedule a phone screen. Given the long wait without any communication, my first impression was already negative. Additionally, I was concerned about the prevalence of fake job listings and spam during my job search. After confirming that the position was legitimate, I scheduled the phone screen with the recruiter. During the call, the recruiter repeatedly mentioned her seven years of recruiting experience, at least three times. At one point, after I answered a question, she asked me to repeat my response just minutes later; seemingly, she had already forgotten my response. She also stated they had received 1,300 resumes for the role and preferred applicants with experience in Rippling. Overall, my experience with Makpar during this brief phone screen was quite negative, and it's definitely not a good fit for what I was seeking in a new role.
So. Many. Phases. Literally spent weeks having 5+ rounds scheduled and then rescheduled. Too many and seemed like quite a waste of time only to find out that I didn’t get selected after final. I don’t blame them for that; they found a better candidate, but they should have been able to suss that out in a round or 2 at most.

One of the rounds was a trial proposal response, but the details were vague that it was really impossible to do anything except ask clarifying questions.
