Entrevista
I submitted my application online and was subsequently contacted by their Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant, who seemed very professional. During an initial call, we discussed my experience and compensation expectations. The consultant mentioned that my compensation expectation exceeded their budget and later followed up with a personalized rejection email, which I found impressive.
I received another message indicating they wanted to meet again, and an interview was arranged with their AVP and Director of Project Management. It went well, and I progressed to the next step, which involved creating a business case report and a SteerCo deck. I spent the entire week making the requested artifacts and submitting them on the due date.
Soon after, I was invited to present the report and deck in person. However, most of the panel participated remotely, which was understandable due to various reasons. I delivered the case and showcased the deck, after which I was told that I performed very well and should expect to hear from HR regarding the next steps.
After that, I heard nothing. Despite following up twice, their Talent Acquisition completely ignored me. My initial positive impression of their process and professionalism faded, leaving me feeling disappointed in them. Even a straightforward rejection email would have been preferable to being ghosted.

It was a one-on-one call with an HR screener. The HR person was 10 minutes late for the call, and was not even remotely in a position to gauge if candidates were suitable or not. The person I spoke with was unprepared for the meeting. They clearly had not even bothered to read my resume. I have ALL of the skills and experience they were looking for, and have previous work experience with the company....and I couldn't get past an HR drone who didn't know the job, didn't know the company, and didn't know that the CDN HQ is actually in Waterloo. The interview was super easy....so there were no awkward moments....money was never even discussed. We did discuss my previous work experience and the fact that my exit interview years ago was great....I was marked down as 'suitable for rehire' at that time....but can't even get past the HR screener now....even with having 100% of the requirements? I get it. I'm middle-aged, and white....and thus not suitable for the diversity quotas that they are looking to fill. You know...for an HR screener to join late, and then rush the call so he won't be late for his next one? Very bad impression of Manulife....it's certainly not the place I worked at years ago. I won't be applying to Manulife again.
