Entrevista
The interview and skills tests were not particularly difficult and everyone I dealt with was very nice. The reason I'm giving this interview a negative review, though, is that they had me complete three skills tests, three one-on-one interviews, and a panel interview -- taking about 8 1/2 weeks altogether -- only to offer me a fairly menial, relatively low-paying position. Very odd. I'm surprised the other interviews on here took only one to two weeks.
I completed the following steps in the following order:
1. Submit cover letter and resume.
2. One week later: Complete at-home exercises -- untimed. I had to write emails for various hypothetical scenarios to prove my writing ability and tact.
3. Two weeks later: Fifteen-minute phone interview with the person who would be my supervisor.
4. Ten days later: In-person interview with that same supervisor, followed by an in-office skills test. I was given about 90 minutes to complete three exercises.
6. Two and a half weeks later: Additional 90-minute skills test, this time at home.
7. Ten days later: Panel interview and an additional, more casual one-on-one with the person who would be my supervisor.
8. One week later: Offered the job. I accepted an amended offer.

They asked questions you'd expect, like why do you want to work at MapLight, what's something unique that you bring to the table, what's your greatest weakness, etc.

This is in response to the President's answer to my previous review.
Instead of categorically responding to the issues with your interviewing practices, you have provided blanket statements- and in one instance, blatant lie. The HR representative did, in fact, ask to extend the interview time to finish the exercises, which had never been mentioned prior to the interview. In addition to this, I had told the team during the interview process that it would take me time to learn about the subject matter. However, you still deemed it necessary to make me write two long essays in a matter of two hours. How is one supposed to research, analyze and produce that quickly when they have never worked on the issue before? That's not "rigorous", that indicates a sense of entitlement for giving people impossible tasks to accomplish and then not hiring them because they couldn't bring you the proverbial tree of life.
Instead of blindly "standing by" practices that are antiquated, and indicate your lack of coordination, communication and management, you should use this feedback to improve the processes.

Pretty straightforward. It was all behavioral questions. Very important to know what the organization does and how it is important in the political scene. Go through the typical behav q's you can find online and know your relevant experiences.
