Candidatei-me por meio de recrutador(a). Fui entrevistado pela McMaster-Carr em nov. de 2024
Entrevista
A recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. Scheduling the interview was self-service and easy to book. Applying was also self-service through their website.
Booked time was with hiring manager upon the virtual screen. The first screen is fairly casual, checking for cultural fit, and you get the opportunity to ask questions. The company is a bit different from your typical downtown, white-collar, software engineering office, so it was great to hear more about how they operate.
More rigorous technical screening interviews follow. Classic college-level algorithms and math problems.
Overall efficient, and gives enough time to prepare without dragging on too long. Unfortunately, the role was mainly .NET, which wasn't a good fit to my preferred tech stack.

Cultural fit and expectations for working a software job in a factory location was important.
Process was fine, I did the screening and it was easy. Surprising amount of technical questions for a phone screening, but nothing bad. Ended up turning down the next round due to not offering flexible work arrangements.

Entrevista
Applied to a job posting online and did not hear back. Got a LinkedIn message from an in-house recruiter who did not appear to know I had already applied asking me for a phone call. We talked on the phone for 45 minutes despite the 30 minute listed meeting duration. Was not able to ask many questions at all as I had to answer their large list of predetermined questions so the recruiter could take notes and pass on. Questions were soft-skills focused and non-technical.
