Started with a phone interview, just a chat back and forth about the company and what they were looking for. Very pleasant and promising conversation. Don’t remember if this was a direct question but the topic turned to why I wanted to explore this kind of position. I answered that I was on a long and rocky weight loss journey of my own and I felt I could help others to feel more comfortable being a heavier person and actually knowing what they are going through. The interviewer agreed and was very pleased with my answer. Next step was an in person interview. The interviewer was a nice enough person but was clueless on how to conduct a proper interview. Especially when he told me he wouldn’t mind a “bigger gal” as his nurse practitioner but he would definitely not want a clinic filled with heavy employees. I knew then that he wanted a thinner person for the face of his clinic and that’s pretty sad because I’m a darn good NP and an even better person. I’ve never had interview questions related to my weight, it was pretty humiliating. When you are in the business of helping people with a weight problem and making tons of money doing it, maybe you shouldn’t discriminate against employees with weight problems. Knowing what I know about how they truly treat people with weight problems, I would never ever give them my hard earned money to go through their program! I let the person who interviewed me by phone know how I felt about the in person interview but I never heard from anyone again.

Collaborative, not with a person who is qualified to discuss/assess medical prescriptive practices. Very open and supportive of NPs with relevant experience. Very little discussion regarding and insight into the center's weight loss methods/practices.
