Entrevista
The process began with a 20 odd minute telephonic interview with HR in order to get a better sense of your understanding of the job.
A few hours later I received an email invite to a ‘mingling’ session dated for two days later. This involved about 9 candidates and approximately 12 Meltwater staff members. We were expected to mingle and interact socially but all it amounted to was the 9 of us awkwardly fighting to get 2 minutes in with each staff member and when you did get their attention you felt like your every move was being scrutinised, the general atmosphere was much like a sorority mixer.
We were then divided up into smaller groups to listen to various talks related to company culture, career progression and the job expectations. The opportunity to ask questions during each stage was provided for but again it all felt very fake and forced as if they had already decided whose answer was worth their time anyway. 2 odd hours later and more forced, unnatural social mingling with the team members.
All in all, it felt forced, pretentious and juvenile as no one carried themselves with the maturity you’d expect from ‘management’ and everyone is a manager! The whole set up felt like a high school clique. No matter the job title, Meltwater is all about the ‘always be closing’ mindset and don’t really care about their customers or you if you don’t fit their box.

De sollicitatie bestaat uit het schrijven van een brief, een Meet Meltwater dag (digitaal of fysiek), een groepsronde en een individueel gesprek. In de groepsronde doel je verschillende opdrachten zoals een debat en het pitchen van jezelf. Het individuele gesprek is gaaf maar kan intimiderend zijn: er zitten veel mensen tegenover je. De intensiteit is echter voor een reden, je zult met klanten ook je mannetje moeten kunnen staan!

6. Ik moest nog eens op extra gesprek, omdat ze in grote tweestrijd waren.
