**Beware, in depth breakdown below:
Phone screen with Director of Talent Acquisition/TA. Second phone interview with Managing Director/MD (runs LA office). Invited for in person group interview. Filled out very lengthy questionnaire and returned to TA and MD.
In person group interview at Shore Hotel in SM. 8am-10:30am for the group interview. 7 of us were sat in a row at a conference room table and across from us were the 5-7 interviewers- Area Director, MD, TA, and CSMs/Director of CS. The AD gave a 45 min presentation on Meltwater, which was good overview and better explanation of their software and the services they provided. MD spoke about her team specifically. It was made very clear that this is not at 8-5 and that they only promote from within.
What followed were the actual candidates speaking. From what I read on Glassdoor, I knew this was about personality, confidence, and standing out. Here are the speeches:
1. personal intro- school, job, what you do for fun. Then name an accomplishment. 2. Broken into teams and have 4 minutes to take a company in the media, and pitch Meltwater's platform to them. 3. 1-2 minute speech - sell something you are passionate about to the panel (you could choose anything, ie. rescuing dogs over buying dogs, use details).
I was invited back for a final interview at their office down the street. The AD, MD, TA and Director of CS were in a conference room with me. The AD led the panel, many questions to go over background (very direct, no sugar coating), want to make sure you can handle long hours and focused on being able to take criticism. Lastly, made me do a role play twice. First time, negotiating renewal with customer. Then give you feedback and have you repeat. This would have been nerve wracking but I do this in my current job and it was great to get feedback so that you could retry it.
Overall, I liked the interview style. I think this was because I was relaxed because I had a good offer already, which relaxed me knowing this was more exploratory than do or die. If I had been more nervous this would have been more difficult. I ultimately choose to not move forward because I had another offer that was more lucrative.
I believe this would be a great job for someone right out of college who is ready to work longer hours and have a good opportunity to grow within the company.
