Spoke with a Recruiter who was very nice and quick in getting next steps scheduled. In my first interview I felt that the owner of the company who was present during the call was just reading her emails and not paying any attention to the interview at hand. When she did speak she made it seem as though I was wasting her time and really overshadowed the good experience I had with the woman whom this role is backfilling. I was asked to move forward to the next step but declined because if the owner of the company makes me feel that poorly and beneath her in a first interaction I can only imagine how much worse I would be made to feel actually working for her. I think it was one of the worst experiences I had interviewing for a job and I’ve been in AV for a long time and have had many interviews. Word of advice to interviewing team if the owner of the company can’t show a modicum of respect to potential employee during a first interaction they shouldn’t be on the call. Everyone has their off days but no matter your hierarchy in a company you should always be respectful especially if you’ve asked them to take time out of their work day to speak with you.
