I had three interviews in total. The first was an HR screening interview, the second was with Midland's chief escrow officer, and the third was Midland's in-house counsel. I submitted my resume late one evening and got a phone call the very next morning asking for an interview with an HR staffer. (I even got a notification that she viewed me on LinkedIn). The interview lasts over half an hour, mostly background stuff and asking about relevant experience. Nothing too special. Two days later I get a phone call asking me for a second interview with what would've been my direct supervisor. That interview goes well, around 45 minutes I'd say of getting to know you chit-chat, expectations about the position, and answering my questions. A few days later I get an email asking for a third interview with Midland's In-House Counsel. This too lasts 45 minutes, with a pleasant back-and-fourth conversation. I'm told they'll reach a final decision "soon." I do my customary follow up/thank you email a couple days later and..... Nothing. I don't hear anything for two weeks. Frantic googling makes me realize this is unfortunately a normal occurrence. I send a polite follow up to HR reiterating my interest in the position. I hear nothing back. Now all this time, I'd been applying and interviewing elsewhere and finally got an offer. I took it and sent Midland's HR a message saying that I'd accepted another position and was withdrawing from consideration as a result. Not 10 minutes later I get an email from HR saying they had found someone else for the position and wishing me luck on my future endevours. I also got an apology for my previous email being ignored, apparently it had gone to their spam folder. Even if the spam explanation is true, not contacting me is still inexcusable. I was interviewed three times by three different people and wasn't even notified that they'd hired someone else. Not only my time was wasted, but the supervisor's and in house counsel's time was wasted. Seriously, what's the point of interviewing someone three times only to drop them? What kind of message does that say about the company? Although the people seemed friendly enough, this points to a severe cultural/structural problems with this organization. This organization simply doesn't value candidates' time, nor does it seem to value its employee's time. So basically, I was interviewed three times and had about a month of my life wasted. If I hadn't emailed and said I'd found another position I doubt they would've contacted me at all. To put the cherry on top, my requests for post-interview feedback were ignored by my second and third interviewers. I didn't even get a "sorry it's company policy not to offer feedback" email from them. This process was just a complete waste of time. So if you want to go through multiple rounds of interviews only to be dropped like a sack of hot potatoes with no explanation, then apply here!
