I was contacted by a staffing agency for the position and met with them one time. The staffing agency, then set an interview. My interview was done with the vice president of the company and it took about 30-45 mins. None of the questions she asked are really about me; she mainly talked about the company. I was contacted a couple days later from the staffing agency and accepted the job. Most of the people that I knew while I was there, came from a temp agency. Getting officially hired on by MIS from a staffing agency can take 6-8 months. Unless you are some how related to one of the supervisors, you can skip that step and be hired in immediately.
