It started with a phone screen. Nearly a month later, after an in-person interview, reference request, and other communication via text/email, I was extended an offer for….. a position that I never applied to. Instead of a general manager position, I was offered the role of “team member” which compensated far less than the position I originally applied for. Felt like a bait-and-switch operation and I am mostly frustrated that I wasted time and provided references to this company.

Seemed like the recruiter was looking for very specific answers, and realistically pretty sure they want gym bro who can use excel. Also I got the impression the position was actually for an assistant manager, not a general manager and they post it for Lake Oswego or Beaverton but it’s actually NE Portland.
