I was referred by the previous campus representative, a person who I had volunteered with the previous year because I loved the concept of free advanced screenings of film. Once my resume was passed on it maybe took a week or two and I was contacted by the adviser for my campus. We spoke on the phone for around 20 minutes, and it was very pleasant and upbeat. I found out I would be next year's representative at the conclusion of the call.
