Something is very off about this organization.
I am a communications professional with more than 16 years of experience. I am a Murrow Award winner and Emmy-nominated journalist.
I had three wonderful interviews with this organization. I completed a writing assignment and had glowing reviews from all three of my references.
I was offered the job on a Friday afternoon. It was a little strange to me that before I was officially made an offer, I was asked if "I was going to leave right away" as there had been quite a bit of turnover. I said I was not a person to jump from job to job. Once the offer was made, I asked for the weekend to think about it. I called back Monday to thank them for the opportunity and asked for a higher salary (about 9%) based on my experience and extensive research I've done on salaries for similar roles. I was told they would get back to my shortly.
I received an email late in the afternoon saying they could not meet my "salary requirements" and best of luck. I emailed back for clarification (the salary ask was a request, not a requirement) and asked if we could discuss it further. I got a follow up email saying "additionally, we didn't feel like we truly aligned on the needs for this position." Hmmm. The only thing that changed between all of the great conversations and the offer was me asking for higher pay.
Since then the organization has BLOCKED me from seeing their social media accounts. I also see that the social media manager (a would have been direct report to me) is no longer there. She has been with the organization for less than two months. Something is off here and as someone who has worked in non profit for several years now, I do have concerns for the individuals they serve.
