      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 6 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela National Philanthropic Trust (Jenkintown, PA) em jul. de 2019

      Entrevista

HR held the first conversational and pleasant phone screening, then transitioned to a second HR representative that scheduled an interview with the hiring manager(Y). The phone interview with the hiring manager(Y) was a review of my professional history, and questions I had about the role and company. I was rushed to the next/final round of in-person interviews which would be with 4 people over 3 hours at their location in PA. I also had a pleasant conversation with the second rep in HR where she explained the area, the benefits, talked about the personality/aptitude test I would need to take, and spoke a bit about culture at NPT and their industry. I took the personality/aptitude test prior to the in-person interview (below in question section). I arrived for the 3 hour in-person interview(which is an additional 4 hours of total travel time for me) with the hiring manager(Y), his manager(X), the COO, and in-house Legal Counsel(LC). The interview with the hiring manager(Y) went well since we had already spoken about my experience and there was a heavy focus on the position writing, maintaining, and retaining ownership of security policies and procedures(Compliance and regulation). The next 30 minute interview was with the COO and LC and focused almost exclusively on a run-down of my background and policy and procedure creation and ownership regarding compliance and regulation, with a little time spent talking about their industry. The last interview was with the hiring manager's boss(X), and returned to a more technical aspect. I provided an overview of my background and experience again, and then X asked several questions; some that were technical. Partway through his technical questions, X stopped and said he had more questions, but I clearly knew Cybersecurity and there seemed little point in asking them, so he opened up the questioning to me. I asked about the culture, requested his perspective on the role, spoke about training, discussed a bit of how much policies and procedures would be a part of the role, and discussed management engagement in the role. All in all, I felt the interview went well and felt near-certain that they would make an offer. The next day HR called me and 90-day contract with the reason being so that "NPT could get a feel if I was right candidate for the role" and so that "I could get a feel for NPT, the culture, and the area." I was also informed that NPT would continue to list the position as open, continue to accept applicants, and continue to interview for the position I would now be fulfilling as part of a time-limited contract. There would be no benefits, but NPT would pay for lodging. Previously, in their words, I had been perceived as the "perfect candidate" for the position possessing all the experience, mentality, and skills to fulfill the role and had been rushed through a lot of the interviewing process (including getting into the office for an in-person interview before X took vacation rather than wait for his return). I asked how many other candidates were also being considered for the role, for which I was told "none; there were three others, but they did not get past the phone screens/interviews, so you are the only one under consideration. Additionally, this completes Round 1 of the interviews for us." I also asked what would happen if I declined this contract offer, to which I was told they would put me "back in the pool for consideration as a candidate and continue their interviewing process with Round 2 and possibly Round 3." I informed them, truthfully, that I had other interviews and would respond next week. I re-engaged NPT asking several questions for clarification, but did not receive any answers, such as: would they definitely be interviewing other candidates for the role I held in contract, and if they hired them, what would happen to the role I was filling? Were there any requirements for NPT to fulfill the 90 days? Would this position remain listed as a full-time role for other candidates? Would NPT continue to hire other candidates in a full-time capacity in contrast with the 90 day contract they had altered the terms to for me? Upon X's return from vacation, they rescinded the 90-day contract "offer" stating that I had raised "additional points and factors to consider." I was also informed that I would be "put back into the pool of candidates for consideration" and, as they continue to interview, they "may bring me back into the office as a refresher on my experience and skills" (not verbatim). I was not offered any recompense for resource usage on my part for the long distance and travel time. At this point I told NPT, truthfully, that I had other offers on the table and I, respectfully, wished to no longer be considered for this role and would like my application withdrawn. I received no further contact from NPT over the next 48 hours.

      Pergunta 3

Do you have experience with writing and overseeing policies and procedures regarding Cybersecurity? Pergunta 4

I have taken IQ and personality tests before, and believe I did very well on this one; perhaps with the exception of the word analogy section (bass is to bass as guitar is to...hominy? herring?...Not sure if we're shooting for letter count, fish that look like musical instruments, or what to be honest). The test involved disagree/agree problems for certain situations(If the CEO pushed an inefficient costly upgrade, would you mention/argue against it?), preferred actions (Would you rather go fishing or do your taxes?), math equations, math word problems, vocabulary synonym matching, and word analogy matching. No questions were open-ended.
