I filled out an online application and submitted a CV through the hospital's website. A human resources rep contacted me by email the next day, offering two windows for a phone interview during the following week. I emailed them back and chose the first window, which was 1.5 hours long.
On the day that I chose, the HR rep called me 20 minutes after the scheduled time window had ended. They offered no apology or excuse. It also seemed as if they were looking at my CV for the very first time as they asked me questions. They were also unable to pronounce the name of department that the laboratory served, which may seem like a petty detail, but was very off-putting to me. In one of the final questions, they wanted to know if I had a job skill that was listed neither in the job description nor on my CV.
Overall, I was left with a sense that I was being screened by someone who had put little or no preparation into performing their job and a feeling of confusion about why they had contacted me in the first place.
