Initial phone call with a recruiter/hiring manager than a tech screening, which was honestly pretty, pretty lame.
The role in question was for a SRE/DevOps position and you speak with another engineer for about an hour. First half is talking about experience etc., and the rest of it is a coding challenge that really highlights the absolute absurdity of current day tech interviews.
So initially you would think given the role, the tech portion would be geared towards that right? Wrong! Tic Tac Toe! That's right, you have to write up a tic tac toe game! Because lets be real, knowledge of networking? Nah not useful. Kubernetes? Never heard of her. Docker, containers, terraform, helm?? Yeahhh, no.
I really don't understand how making a tictactoe game is somehow at all relevant to the position nor how it gives an insight into the experience of a candidate. But that tech for you! Glad I got rejected because I ended up getting another position a week later.
