If you are going to work in retail, Nordstrom is probably as good as it gets. High Quality merchandise and the opportunity to advance if you are good at what you do - allegedly. I have a college degreem previous retail experience, great fashion sense and an outgoing, service oriented personality. All of these are qualities they profess to value; however, after an outstanding in person interview with a young woman who didn't look old enough to have graduated high school, I was told they went w/another candidate. I went into the store 2 weeks later and checked-out the person they hired for the department in question, who seemed like a better fit for Walmart than th eimage Nordstrom portrays. Unbelievable. My advice to others is: be prepared to talk-up your ability to sell on commission and how money motivated you are - quantify your answers as much as possible with real numbers that you can prove " At XYZ I was the top earning salesperson 3 months in a row" etc...

So easy, I went to a job fair and was hired on the spot. They need people in the kids department, that's the easiest section to get into. They just ask about your personality and who you are.

Was inside Barton creek mall, hiring manager was prompt and clear with questions ranging from how I would handle difficult customers, to my personal experiences that could apply to the job.
