      Entrevista

I received a call to go to a first round interview. I turned up and got seated down in the lobby. Then Simon called me into his office to interview me and explain the whole business and process. Then I revived a call that first night to be invited for a second round interview. The second round interview included observing first hand what was required on a day to day basis. After the observation of the day I went back to the office and finished a final round questionnaire and had one more interview to which I was offered the job.

      Entrevista

Attended an initial interview (stage one) - the office has a very clean, modern feel. The walls are plastered with “motivational” quotes and the “the power of now” book was lying about too, which is good if you’re into that kind of thing (for me it just triggered memories of my self-help junkie days, when I was a bit more airy fairy and in the clouds). Anyway, after filling out a sheet of questions (re: my motivation and logistics), I had a very friendly and chilled out interview with Simon (lasting about 15min) where we went through the sheet and he had me elaborate on my answers. Afterwards, he briefly whizzed through a PowerPoint presentation. Wasn’t too clear explaining the role (only clearer during the observation day) - maybe include a few photos on the slides to give future candidates a better idea of role. Got called back for a Stage 2 interview which was an observation day (unpaid). Thought I’d go along and actually see what the role was all about - would be a good learning experience regardless of whether I do the job or not. Spent the day with a sales team and watched them approach people on the streets to sign up for monthly donations to a cats and dogs charity. Had a (lovely) supervisor who set me tasks throughout the day (so I wasn’t just observing the team). It was super cold though so if you are particularly sensitive to cold (as I am), this may not be the best job for you. Also if you can’t handle rejections, you’re gonna hate this job. The pay is from commissions, which is good if you are competitive and don’t want to slave away doing the bare minimum for a wage job. The bad thing is some days you might not get any success, don’t get paid, so you could end up feeling really bummed. Days are super long and there are also lots of after work socials/events going on so one can say...this job consumes a lot of your life...! which means you really have to love it! The company really emphasised the progressional aspects. Everyone starts at phase 1 and progresses up (that’s the goal anyway) so there’s an equal chance for everyone to succeed. It’s mainly on you to improve. It’s a good thing, in my opinion, that there’s always opportunity for growth. Overall I got a really “positive” vibe. So positive that it set my internal alarm bells ringing. The motivational quotes on the wall. The upbeat pop/charts music that’s always playing in the office. Being told by people who work there that there’s nothing bad about the company. Had a brief moment where I was talking to one of the sales people in our team, the supervisor came over looking really concerned and asking me what we were talking about/what he had said to me (god forbid it was some negative talk about the company!). When we got back to the office, I filled in another sheet of questions and had a final interview (after the supervisor had a chat with Simon and showed my notebook with all the various tasks I had to - including “my top 20 strengths” “my weaknesses” “letter to Simon explaining why he should pick me etc”). Not sure if it was my messy notebook or what, but he noticed my lack of excitement. The job seemed interesting, but I wasn’t 100% and ultimately, Simon picked up on it and didn’t give me an offer. He did however say that I should email back if I had made my mind up about wanting to do this.

I felt that the overall interview process was a friendly atmosphere, however throughout I never got the feeling that I was being told exactly what the job was for. They lure you in with the opportunities to travel abroad, and a whole development program...it got me to the interview anyway.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. We're happy to hear that you found the interview process to have a friendly atmosphere, it is hugely important to us to create an environment where everyone feels relaxed and confident. We're sorry you felt you didn't understand the job you were applying for, however we do make what we do very clear in our adverts, as being anything other than completely transparent would not only waste our time, it would waste the time of our applicants too. It's a shame to hear that you thought our opportunities to travel and develop new skills were offered to lure you in, this certainly isn't our intention. Norfolk and Suffolk Promotions is set to grow and expand this year and these opportunities are an important part of this. We love to share these opportunities with candidates as it helps us to find the right people who share our enthusiasm and ambition. We wish you all the best for the future.
