Hiring manager told me I am over qualified and he would like to know why I am applying for the job. Then he started to "persuade" me this industry and this job will be slow and boring comparing to the other companies I've worked for. I am not sure if he was representing the company or himself in that opinion.
He kept digging the WHY and obviously he didn't get his answer he'd like to hear. He asked me to go back and think about the WHY and sent him the WHY in email.
It was a very uncomfortable conversation and just weird vibes all over. I did send my response to close off the conversation though never get any response.
I guess I am too qualified that I may take the hiring manager's job.
I don't blame him. :)

2 calls with HR, then 2 calls with HM, several 1:1 meetings with panel spread over 2 weeks, then 2 calls with HM, then zero further communication. Very disappointing experience, could have been much more efficient.

The interview started with a recruiter and continued with the hiring manager for 30 minutes. It was a collegial discussion with general questions about my background and experience. I felt that it went well, but I was not moved to the next interview. It seemed that a decision probably had already been made in advance of the meeting,
