1. Unusual Interview Format: During the interview, the focus was heavily centered on one of my project experiences. Surprisingly, there were no technical questions or case studies involved. This approach left me with the impression that I was essentially providing a consultation service for free. 2. Disregard for Work-Life Balance: When I inquired about the expected working hours and the company's approach to urgent requests (specifically, overtime expectations), I received a response that only outlined the standard working hours as 09:30 to 19:00, without addressing the overtime aspect. Furthermore, when I expressed my concern for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, the hiring manager's response was rather surprising: "I am surprised that as an employee of XXX, you actually care about work-life balance." The tone and manner in which this question was posed came across as insensitive, suggesting that work-life balance was somehow irrelevant within the context of a job interview. In sharing my experience, I would advise any prospective candidates to exercise caution when the hiring manager delves into sensitive technical aspects of your projects. It's important to safeguard your own interests during the interview process. Additionally, it's worth noting that the company's approach to work-life balance appears to be lacking. The hiring manager's perspective, shaped by her five-plus years of experience with the company, likely reflects the overall attitude of the organization. If work-life balance is a significant factor for you, it's advisable to take this into careful consideration.
