Had an initial call/screen for the role that went reasonably well; a pleasant chat about the role (originally Systems Analyst). Everything seemed to go well, and I mostly expected a follow up call.
Then about 2 weeks later, I get an standard rejection email - a BambooHR template (that I've seen word for word in other rejections), with a note specifically saying "we have decided to proceed with another applicant.."
And I would have probably just ignored or given a courtesy reply at that point - but they reposted the job 2 days later with a different title "QA Automation Developer", and two months later the job gets reposted again. As a jobseeker, we deal with rejection all the time and that's expected - but I'm writing this review here today because of such a lazy HR job here to just lie in the rejection and say "we have another applicant" when that's obviously not true. Next time, maybe give an honest reason as to why you're not going through with candidacy (if you're going to give a reason at all). If it really was "another candidate was better and we went with them", that gives your existing candidate false hope that it wasn't some other dealbreaker, and that maybe you would call them if that other candidate dropped out.
