I knew I wanted to work for Opower from the moment I learned about their services and overall environment. For two months I researched everything about Opower. I love data analysis and Opower so when the position of Analytics Consultant was posted I applied in a heartbeat!! A recruiter contacted me four days later (Monday) to see my availability for a phone interview. I replied and was scheduled to speak to the same recruiter at the end of the week (Friday). The phone interview went extremely well until a question about public speaking (my weakness) came up and I clearly became nervous. By Tuesday of the following week, I received a friendly email stating that I would not be moving forward in the recruiting process. The recruiter was very well-spoken, knowledgeable of the position I applied for, and prompt with communication. I knew after the phone interview that I wouldn't be considered for the next hiring step, but I'll definitely be applying again in the near future.

I found the position on indeed.com and sent in my resume and cover letter. I had an initial 30 minute screening interview with a recruiter. She was very nice and knowledgable about the position. I then completed a homework assignment to demonstrate my analytics skills. Obviously I made sure to be as thorough as possible with my responses. This was followed up by another phone chat with someone on the Analytics team. The conversation was a bit more technical but still very pleasant. A week or so later I was invited in for in person interviews. This included one on one meetings with a handful of people. The experience was really very satisfying. All the interviewers were a lot of fun to talk to and I left even more excited about Opower than when I had arrived. A week or so later I had another phone chat with a VP. Another few days later I received a call informing me that I unfortunately had not been selected for the position. The caller explained why in particular I was not chosen and entertained any final questions I had. Although I am a certainly disappointed not to be joining Opower, I very much appreciate their interviewing process. The initial recruiter was responsive to my queries and kept me in the loop throughout the whole process. Everyone I interacted with, either through phone calls or during my visit, gave me their full attention and demonstrated very positive characteristics. The rigor of the whole process definitely allowed me to demonstrate my capabilities as a potential employee. Opower seems to be a great group of people working for a great cause.
