The interview process was very swift and efficient, with scheduling for the interview, reference checks, and offer all occurring in a few days time. The interview panel were helpful in describing the goals and needs for the project. Unfortunately, the job title and salary range was posted incorrectly. I was offered the position but sadly could not accept based on the low salary offer. Next time I will be sure to clarify the title and salary range upfront in the interview. The interview panel was very apologetic and offered to work with HR on improving the transparency of the available salary in the future.

The entire process took about 5 weeks from the phone screen to a polite rejection note about a job dealing with research data curation for internal clients. There were 5 people in the room interviewing me for a clinical research analyst role, and other than their current job titles there was nothing to indicate from their backgrounds that any of them had any direct clinical experience - nor did they ask about mine. The work unit was very interested in getting somebody in with Epic certifications; however, nobody in the room would have had any prior to starting their roles. It also didn't sound like the type of place that allowed for the honor of a sponsored certificate (the only way to get an Epic certificate) to be bestowed upon anybody that didn't already have one. One of the interviewers seemed anxious and fearful, kept questioning my credentials with regard to working with data, though the questions revealed more about her own lack of expertise with programming in general. There was a distinct emphasis on rote memorization over anything to do with problem-solving. Despite the original allure of what seemed to be a potentially interesting, well-funded position supporting clinical research, it felt very much like a typical tech job interviewing experience. I felt like I was expected to possess extremely specific skills walking through the door, though there was probably no room for growth/training once you made it in.
