Interviews for the state are not great. It's a panel interview and a lot is based on how confident you answer the questions. It's not very conversational either. Since everyone knows confidence is king, it definitely encourages "exaggerating" your experience and expertise. Also, there is about a 98% chance you will be asked if you know how to use Excel and make a pivot chart. Don't ever say no or hesitate when answering that question. A lot of the questions were pretty typical, but the 3-person panel wrote notes the whole time and did not look up. They also asked some job-specific questions about working with certain systems.
