Applied online via the PSEG website. About 3 weeks after the submission of my cover letter and resume I was asked to come in for a face to face interview at the training center in Somerset, NJ.
Two engineers took turns asking questions. Interview questions were divided was in 2 parts.
Behavioral, where they ask how you would approach problems, personal experiences, and saftey. These must be answered in the STAR format. There was 3 of these questions.
Following the behavioral, they present you with 2 technical questions. You are given a schematic to read and decipher or are asked to make design changes to an existing electrical control/power system.
The entire interview takes about one hour.
It took about 4 weeks for PSEG to get back to me after I went to the interview. After the offer is presented you have 4 days to accept. Your start date is pending until a background check, employment history check, and medical exam (done on site and results from urine test are given on the spot) are completed by a third party company. That process can take up to 5 weeks.
