I applied to the position through Viacom's careers page and also had a friend pass along my resume internally. My friend's referral led to an email by the hiring manager. She listed out her exact requirements for the job, including a non-negotiable salary and asked if I felt I was still the right fit. I replied to say yes. We set up an interview for the following week. The interview was rescheduled by her assistant last minute, giving me 30 minutes with her.
From the moment I arrived, I could tell she was not interested in me. Off the bat, she told me how bad her day was and asked me about my brand experience. I could tell my experience (though relevant) didn't check off the box she wanted it too. After that she told me more about the role, but asked me no further questions about myself. I did my best to interject where appropriate to tell her about myself. She couldn't have rushed me out any fast.
I was not reaching with the position, my experience and background was relevant. I felt she judged me before she even asked me any questions and clearly didn't want to be interviewing.
