They are a bit confused on the hiring process and even on who they need to hire. I did the first interview with the HR, the second with the HM and the third one with the person that needed to be replaced. All of them where just conversational, super easy, with questions regarding previous experience and background. After the last step (which they told me was the final one), they told me that in order to decide between me and another candidate, another step was needed (a role play). I did the role play, which apparently for what they told me before and after the interview went very well. After a couple of days I got a message saying that they selected the other candidate mainly because it was more junior than me and better to "shape". Now, isn't it clear from the first interview that my profile was more senior? It's obvious they needed to select either me or the other candidate, which is absolutely fine, but why saying that the last added round was crucial to decide, when it was just a matter of seniority is disrespectful and unprofessional. This is wasting people time and not having any idea of how interview processes work.
