A month ago I interviewed. I advised the recruiter I was looking for home/ work life balance and was passed on to the next round of interviews. During interviews with hiring teams I told them I am looking for balance. While I want to always go above and beyond and work hard that is a contingency for me for mental health and overall what I need in a Career in some compacity.
I was told by the manager that If I want that to go work at a job I can clock out at 5 I would not get that at Paylocity. In fact I was told employees are required to complete 2-3 hours overtime each day ( at minimum). That weekend all the team was required to work over the weekend for example. She even said that sometimes I might need to respond at 2:30 or 3 AM. They have high turnover and cant fill positions fast enough leaving employees to carry double or tripple work load.
That was very alarming seeing as how there is the ability to work hard back also be happy without killing yourself. Please keep in mind the industry is NOT in the busy season yet.
I am all about working hard. But, I am not looking to work for a company where I am in a waiting room awaiting surgery and I am trying to answer work emails. That sounds like a nightmare.
