      Entrevista

      I had been reached out to several times by recruiters. The process moved along relatively quickly. They were more than willing to work with my schedule and provided more than enough information during the interview and any details needed outside to understand the needs of the position. Everything seemed almost too easy along the way to the point that I was concerned there were some things being masked. In my initial recruiter call, they asked about what compensation I desired. I truly hate being asked this question before understanding any of the benefits as this isn't something that I had seeked out, but rather had been essentially head-hunted. Due to some miscommunication early on, probably my fault, it made the actual negotiation quite difficult to the point I felt it became almost hostile. The offer I received overall was an increase to my OTE, but I had stated from the jump I wouldn't exercise anything that would be a net loss or neutral move from a monthly takehome standpoint. The offer I received was a complete net loss from that view. I informed them what salary would be a breakeven and what I would be willing to take. The response I got was as if they were insulted since I didn't state in the initial call this figure. Again, I was hesitant woth giving a true figure not understanding the total incentive package since they had been head hunting me. In the end, the recruiter basically gave me a 24-hour ultimatum and due to that, I turned down the offer. It's quite obvious how greatly they need to fill this position, but they've preemptively decided what they'll pay, not understanding the true supply/demand of this position. Everyone I interviewed with was fantastic and I really do think it would have been a good opportunity, but they need to understand how to better negotiate with prospects, especially those they are head hunting.
