Informal hour-long phone call with COO. Discussed my experience and then the nature of the role. The role was not as advertised and was ultimately a technical customer service position rather than actual bioinformatics or software engineering job. At the conclusion of the chat, I was invited to do a 2 hour technical interview with the CEO. COO gave a very low-ball offer presumably assuming someone just coming out of academia (like me) would accept a low salary. Later, after declining the offer, I was asked by the COO if I could provide him with a lead to sell PetaGene's product to my academic department. Extremely unprofessional.
