I went to the interview in October for a position in the Bursars office. The interview went great but I didn't hear anything until the end of December to give my references. Once I submitted the references I was told by HR that the policy is to let all three/two final candidates give a reference then they decide. I get an email from HR saying thank you but we choose someone else. I email HR asking why and never got a response. Honestly I feel like I was there to fill a diversity quota. The last time I interviewed at Phila/Jefferson in 2014 the person said "I spoke so well" and I said for a black woman??? And he shut up. I dont want to say the culture at working in higher ed is starting to be against minorities but I cant help but think that maybe its starting to be the "culture" not just here but at other universities also in Philadelphia.

Applied online and was called very quickly for a phone interview. Went well but the last question asked was related to salary. I responded that I was certainly able to negotiate and told them my current salary. They said they had a very firm range that was about $30k less than my current salary - and This was for a role that I considered to be a step up. I asked if there was any wiggle room in that and was told unfortunately not. I politely removed my application from consideration. Overall, however, the phone screen experience was not an unpleasant one.
