      Candidatei-me online. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Philanthropy University.

      Entrevista

      The initial interview was a conversation that went over mission, experience, and logistics. Overall good experience. However, the second part was a test comprised of the following: 20 leads with internal names and emails (i.e. free work), and a brief for executives. It took several hours to accomplish the leads, with expectations of internal information to be delivered immediately (this is not how sales leads occur - they are, more often, a rabbit-hole system of one person leading to another). I think they essentially take leads from interviewers and use them, which is exploitive.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to share this valuable feedback. We at Philanthropy U deeply value feedback as a gift towards continually improving our processes and decisions, and your feedback has enabled us to do exactly that. Overall, we are glad you had an overall good experience in our interview process, although with the notable exception of our “challenge project” phase. For context, our challenge projects are designed to give candidates a realistic example of the work the role will entail, so 1) candidates can evaluate if they'd enjoy the work and 2) our team can evaluate candidates based on simulated work products (which research has shown to be a more accurate and less biased evaluation method than interviews). For the Business Development Associate role, we sought to evaluate candidates on their ability to find leads aligned with our work to build the capacity of the social impact sector through our programmatic pillars, as well as to create short (i.e., 1-2 page) briefs to prepare executives for meetings. Channeling our team value of “Be Vulnerable,” however, it appears we may have miscalibrated the amount of time this challenge project would require to complete! Based on your feedback, we’ve revised challenge project to ask for only 10 leads (reduced from 20), to hopefully reduce the level of effort required while still giving candidates a preview of the role’s day-to-day responsibilities. We’ve also added more instructions to the brief section of the assignment to help future candidates tailor their work. Again, thank you for sharing our feedback, which has enabled us to hopefully improve our hiring process for this role moving forward.
