After a phone screening, I was asked to interview at the site where I would be working. The interviewer was aware that I already had my unarmed security officer license and had some work experience in the field with another security company locally. Before I spoke with the interviewer, I was given a clipboard and asked to write down the answer to various questions to test my knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and such things as what I would do if I saw someone breaking into a car in the parking lot. He asked me if I thought I'd have any problem completing training in things like the use of pepper spray, and if I thought I could wear a 5 lb. utility belt, even though neither of those things would be necessary in the position I would be applying for. He seemed in a hurry to fill the job, asking me then and there if I was ready to start, and told me I could start as soon as tomorrow. I was turned off by the fact that he expected me to complete 4 hours of unpaid general training and an additional 40 hours of site specific training at minimum wage.

It happened at Auburn with a man named Stephen. He takes time to answer questions. But left me with the impression that there would be paid training not just minimum wage on the job training. I left with the impression that I would be trained before given a location to guard. Not so. Eight hours of speed reading orientation is all you get and off you go to work.
