Went in to Leicester office, was taken to a room and asked to fill in a lengthy application form. Quite a different approach to other recent interviews as I had came via a recruiter for this role too and I’d already provided this information but I filled it out anyway. After ten minutes someone came to have a chat with me, relatively formal interview. Introduced the business, spoke about some of their key people etc. Some odd questioning at times. Two questions that were weird 1) what do your parents do? (I thought was strange as they were interviewing me based on my experience/personality and suitability for the job not my mum or dad). I just answered this as briefly as possible, it was irrelevant fact finding 2) Do you like fat or Asian people? I almost spat my water out. I genuinely wasn’t sure if I should laugh or cry. It was asked in humour, I think/hope. Got walked around, upstairs main office was quiet. Apparently some staff were at meetings or on holiday. Got shown a progression plan of how I could progress, their values (I partially ignored this given the earlier questions) and a walk around of a untidy kitchen and overflowing bins. Staff all smiled, quite a mature team. Most were late 50’s with a few younger faces. This concerned me as to whether I’d enjoy working with people all at the end of their careers and whether the progression was actually there. I ended up accepting an offer elsewhere and ignored the recruiter!!
